Ar-Rahman In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful The Beneficent (1) Hath made known the Qur’an. (2) He hath created man. (3) He hath taught him utterance. (4) The sun and the moon are made punctual. (5) The stars and the trees adore. (6) And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, (7) That ye exceed not the measure, (8) But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. Al-Waqia In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. (1) And there can be no denyial of its befalling. (2) Bringing low (some — those who will enter Hell) Exalting (others- those who will enter Paradise). (Tafsir Ibn-Kathir) (3) When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. Abasa In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful (The Prophet (SAW)) frowned and turned away, (1) Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. ‘Abdullâh bin Umm-Maktûm, who came to the Prophet (SAW) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs) (2) And how can you know that he might become pure (from sins)? (3) Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? At-Tariq In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful By the heaven, and At-Târiq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); (1) And what will make you to know what At-Târiq (night-comer) is? (2) (It is) the star of piercing brightness; (3) There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels in charge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds). (4) So let man see from what he is created!
